New Year's Resolutions

2009 is just around the corner, and I have a few New Year's resolutions I would like to try and achieve (although chances are they won't go in effect until March). To start, let's see where I am right now:

  • Social Life = Craptasticly Crappy due to lack of decent transportation in big city.
  • Thinking about music, but not writing / recording it.
  • Piano / Guitar skills not improving due to lack of practice.
  • Lazy. Can't find time or motivation to get a little exercise.
  • Have not acted/performed since 2006.

Here's how I would like to rephrase those statements by March:

  • Social Life = Better - more socially energizing job, and convenience to friends and venues.
  • Finding time to write, record AND perform original music.
  • Setting aside 30 - 45 minutes or more 4 days a week to practicing piano/guitar.
  • Running 2 miles each morning. Getting in shape and continuing to eat healthy.
  • Be consistently performing or in rehearsal for a performance.

Right now, the 12 hour work day (out the door at 7:10am, and home at around 7:00pm) is killing me. Monday through Friday, I'm too exhausted to do anything once I get home from work. And by the time I'm onto the weekend, all I want to do is veg out. Relying on the commuter rail means my options of going to and from the city are limited, unless I want to walk 30 minutes to Newton Highlands. The fact that I'm not getting much exercise is probably contributing to my back problems (although the fact that I've been using a futon mattress as my bed for the last 2 years could be part of the issue). I'm still in my 20's - I'm not quite ready to start feeling like an old man yet.

There's nothing worse than being an aging young person. - Richard Pryor
