The Daily Otaku

Otaku: In modern Japanese slang, the term otaku refers to a fan of any particular theme, topic, or hobby - Wikipedia

My friend Scott and his wife Ginny have invited me to post some material on their new blog, The Daily Otaku (which will have its own domain soon). I think it's a great opportunity for my posts on politics and consumer technology (mostly Apple rants) to find a fitting home, and for this blog to transition into more of a day to day journal on my life. I'm working on my first post for the new blog, and will hopefully have it up this weekend. So bookmark it, and check back often! Scott's posts on science and health are pretty fascinating - part of his otaku is science and technology, and how it relates to improving the human species (he's stated on Facebook posts that the first person who will live to be 200 years old is alive today).

So now, to my personal life:

My move to Savannah is only two months away. I'm excited, nervous, and a little disappointed. The M.A. in performing arts is no longer available, so I'm having to apply for the M.F.A, which is a two year instead of a one year program. Not only does it cut into my 12 - 18 month plan to get out to L.A., but as of now, I really don't think I can afford tuition for the additional year, and I'd rather not have to take out a $30,000 loan to cover it (I'm horrible when it comes to debt). I'll let you know whether I'll be finishing that degree in a post about 9 - 12 months from now. But I'll at least be acting and performing music again, so I'm still very happy about the future.

My mini studio is almost complete. I've got some decent Behringer condenser mics (a matched pair of C2's and a C3), so I can finally start adding some decent vocal tracks to some of my recordings and post them! But probably not until I get to Savannah...
